I’m sorry. Not just for the title of this project which was…mmm…lacking… but because it’s taken me so long to summarize my volunteering experience. I kind of got back handed by life about a week after I cut my hair and I’m still trying to stand up. The good news is I have almost found my footing and expect to be my old snarky self shortly. At this point I should say something profound about the 50 volunteer projects and how they changed my life. Of course they did - anything I type... [Read more]
When economics and the environment collide it’s usually the latter that suffers. Development in previously undeveloped countries causes habitat and species loss and a domino effect of environmental problems. Kenya is one such country wrestling with balancing the prosperity brought on by increased tourism to the beaches of Dinai and severe habitat loss which threaten one of Kenya’s biggest draws – it’s diverse animal population. One animal threatened by human encroachment is the Angolan... [Read more]

So imagine what a dork I was when I randomly ran into Shelley Pack of the Keep It Green Girls in LA during an audition and then begged... [Read more]
Growing up in the South Bronx Majora Carter watched half the buildings in her neighborhood burn down. Landlords thought it was more profitable to torch their property in the dilapidated area and collect the insurance money than earn an honest return on their investment. The South Bronx became degraded because banks “red lined” the area - meaning they would not loan money to businesses in the neighborhood. When businesses moved out, rubbish moved in making the South Bronx the waste... [Read more]

Environmental scientist can present mountains of data to the public to persuade them to change their errant ways, but these facts rarely portray the emotion and urgency of the situation. Art, however, can bridge the gap between science and emotional understanding. Art helps us grasp large concepts, teaches us... [Read more]
The patchouli scented, hemp wearing, hippie image of the eco girl is getting a serious makeover thanks to Sophie Uliano. Sophie is the author of the Oprah endorsed tome Gorgeously Green, which guides women through an eight-step process to become eco-friendly and maintain their sex appeal. I was fortunate enough …Keep Reading Share and Enjoy: Read More →
